This is a difficult question for many. How do you know when it%u2019s time?Every situation is unique. Is it possible for your loved one to remain at their home, or your home, with support from family or paid caregivers? If so, that is always our top suggestion.But there are times when it simply is not possible for your loved one to age in place. Examples of situations that may require you to seek a long-term care facility for your loved one include: WHEN SHOULD YOU CONSIDER A NURSING HOME?SAFETY AT HOME BECOMES A CONCERNLiving alone can pose serious risks to a person after they reach a certain age. You may worry about your loved one wandering outside and getting lost, leaving a pot on the stove and burning the house down, or falling down with no one to help them. If these are concerns, you may consider a long-term care facility.WORSENING HEALTHIf your loved one%u2019s health has gotten worse, they may need to be in a facility that can monitor their health on a daily basis, and provide 24/7 nursing care.MOBILITY CHANGESWhen your loved one becomes unable to walk, unable to transfer themselves, incontinent of bowel and bladder, it can become physically and emotionally taxing on the family. Your loved one may need a facility that has staff trainedand able to assist with these basic activities of daily living.
