About Glyphosate

About the Verdict
The Alameda County jury ordered Monsanto to pay damages to a 76-year-old man and his 74-year-old wife. Both were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after using Roundup on their Northern California property for many years. The jury found Roundup caused the couple’s cancer—and determined Monsanto failed to warn customers of the product’s dangers. One of the couple’s attorneys argued a billion-dollar judgment for each plaintiff would send a message.
Landmark Verdicts

- August 2018: A state court in San Francisco awarded $289 million to a groundskeeper—finding Roundup caused Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
- March 2019: A federal jury in San Francisco awarded $80 million to a man who claimed Roundup had caused his Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
