Ford has announced a recall of 390,000 Ranger pickups, model years 2004 through 2006. According to an article on WRAL.com, the recall is because the driver’s air bag inflators can explode with too much force and cause injuries…and death. In December, a South Carolina man died when he was struck in the neck by metal shrapnel after his 2006 Ranger was involved in a wreck.
What’s scary is that more automakers will soon announce their own recalls, perhaps up to another 5 million vehicles that also have defective Takata airbag inflators.
You can Ford find out if your truck is included in the recall by going to Ford.com and clicking on “safety recalls.” Then, enter your vehicle identification number (VIN) to check the truck’s status.
We’ll report on any more recalls as they are announced. If you have been harmed by a faulty airbag, please feel free to call HensonFuerst at 1-800-4-LAWMED for more information about your options. Or, visit our website at www.hensonfuerst.com.
